Miguel Colón was born in the South Bronx in 1969. He is a 1992 graduate of the School of Visual Arts. Holding a BFA in Fine Art, with honorable mention. While at SVA, he studied with the likes of Jack Potter, Marilyn Minter, and Kenny Scharf. He also studied drawing, painting, and sculpting the figure with Irwin (Greeny) Greenberg, Ephraim Rubenstein, and Barney Hodes at the Art Students League of New York, and monitored for Costa Vavagiakis at the Art Students League of New York, National Academy of Design, and New York Academy of Art. He is a 2001 recipient of the Edwin Austin Abbey Mural Workshop Grant at the National Academy of Design. His artistic influences include Diego Rivera, Vincent van Gogh, and Amedeo Modigliani. He is currently working on his first public work, a mural which advocates social justice.
